open the Preferences dialog
identify the options available in the New Document category
change the Default Document Type to HTML 5
create a new HTML page from the Welcome screen
save the page
create a new page from the Files panel and open the page
learn about the best practices for naming files
access the Code view to verify that the document type is correct
