Looking battered Alongside Rosneath Jetty

The Clydebuilt 1955 veteran Rescue Tug ‘Golden Cross’ is looking in a very sad state lying alongside the Rosneath Jetty and was to be her final destination as she was subsequently Broken Up in-situ.

She had arrived from the 650-mile voyage from Falmouth into the Holy Loch and anchored. She broke her moorings and drifted onto a sandbank near Ardentinny. Taken in hand by the Admiralty tug ‘SD Resourceful’ and towed ashore to be beached as she was in real danger of sinking because of her very poor condition.
