The New York Botanical Garden has a corpse flower in bloom for the first time in 80 years. It was amazing to see people lined up to catch a glimpse. This colorful character was escorted into the conservatory by NYBG staff but I don’t know who he is. The rest of us had to wait in line – I was lucky only about a 20 minute wait but when I left the conservatory the line was a lot longer and the wait had to be closer to an hour. Glad I’m not going on the weekend.
This is the second corpse flower I’ve seen. About 10 years ago there was one at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden – before all the social media there wasn’t the same kind of frenzy as surrounds this one.
